FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO I REALLY NEED PERMANENT COSMETICS?

Absolutely! Permanent makeup (cosmetic tattooing) helps give back what time has taken away and saves you precious time you normally spend "putting on your face." You can save countless hours in a single year that were formally spent struggling to draw eyebrows evenly or eyeliner half-way straight... that's a lot of extra free time, not to mention what's your time worth? Speaking of worth, imagine the money you'll save not buying expensive cosmetics that rub off, smear, and disappear during the day.

Permanent makeup is not necessarily intended to replace cosmetics completely. Because the color is placed "in" your skin and not "on" your skin a more natural, softer look results. When you're ready to kick your heels and go out for a night-in-the-town or want a different look, you can apply as much additional makeup as you wish.

How long can I expect it to last?

Permanent Makeup lasts a lot longer than traditional makeup, but it will not show forever. The visible pigment will fade over time. As you become accustomed to your new makeup it's not uncommon to want more, as you now have a "new normal".

You typically can expect to freshen up your new makeup periodically.

Natural, delicate colors are oftentimes more vulnerable to the effects of sun, swimming, and breakdown by the body's natural responses.

Because there are so many factors involved in the rate of fade, we do not predict what your permanent makeup lifespan will be....could be 10 months, could be 10 years.

I am afraid of pain, does Permanent Makeup hurt?

Topical anesthetics have been developed especially for permanent makeup procedures. These creams and gels are applied to the desired area before and during the procedure to assure you of the most comfortable experience possible. Some people describe the sensation as a "tingling" or "scratching" feeling. However most people still experience some level discomfort at least for some part of the procedure. How much pain? On a scale of 1-10, you will usually be somewhere between 0 -3. Rarely is anything stronger than a Tylenol necessary for the discomfort and you won't have to miss work or take time to recover. Because this is a cosmetic invasive procedure, there are all risks as well as benefits. These include infection, allergic reaction, misplaced color, scarring, undesired result or color. Please ask questions!

What if I have special needs?

You may have special needs for permanent makeup such as scars, vitiligo, alopecia or health problems. Your micropigmentation professional will be happy to meet with you to evaluate your special needs with a consultation. Permanent makeup practitioners are true professionals, so don't be embarrassed to ask.

What if I need an MRI?

Go to www.mrisafety.com for lots of information.  By all means get an MRI if you need one.  Temporarily tingling or burning sensations have been reported and women report they use a cool, wet cotton round placed over the eyes.  New MRI equipment rarely causes any problem.

Permanent makeup makes it possible to look better around the clock and to be less self-conscious.

When you look better, you'll feel better, plus you'll have more time and money to spend on things you want- time with you family, leisure activities and that much deserved beauty sleep.

WHAT TYPICALLY HAPPENS DURING AN APPOINTMENT?

When you arrive, we will have paperwork for you to complete.

We will then take our time to consult and discuss paperwork, what you want, what you DON'T want, and all your options.

{{ all while you get nice and numb with the help a topical anesthetic!}}

 Before we ever think about putting pigment IN your skin... we will map out a shape that works for your face shape, what we're working with as far as natural brow, and the look you are hoping to achieve.

This "map" will guide us for the procedure, so rest assured you do get to see an idea of what it will look like before we begin.

And then all thats left is permanent makeup application time... and actual tattoo time is generally pretty quick!

Secondary anesthetics applied throughout your procedure will ensure you stay comfortable.

WHAT IS IT EXACTLY?

Permanent makeup is cosmetic tattooing... implanting color in your skin with a specialized configuration of needles.It is putting the right color in the right place.This procedure is a cosmetically invasive procedure that requires skill, experience and cooperation with your permanent makeup professional.

 I keep hearing the word MICROBLADING, is it really that different from tattoos?

NO!!!!! Microblading IS a tattoo, microblading IS permanent makeup. Specifically, its a manual method of tattooing eyebrows.... meaning no machine. This is not a new method, its been called many things over the years, but is now widely known and accepted with the help of social media and the internet. HOWEVER, microblading is not for everyone. It is not great for all skin types, and your technician will help you choose the best option for YOU. {{ Another reason its important to see an artist that is a well rounded, fundamentally trained permanent makeup artist, not just a microblader ;) }}

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECOVER?

Honestly, it depends on your and your skin. Some will be red and puffy for a day or two, and some can take a lunch hour appointment and none would be the wiser that something was done. For eyeliner procedures, You can expect to look like you've had a good cry for several hours following your procedure - swollen and puffy. Lip color often involves swelling as well.  Eyebrow procedures have the least swelling.Swelling and redness aside, you can expect all of these treatments to have what we call " a rollercoaster of healing". You will likely have a few days of darker than wanted, followed by dry flaky skin for several days to a week. Typically, the healing process is not bad at all, and you should have no problems being seen in public or living your life as you normally do. â€‹
